Hi. I’m Becky, the designer behind Purlsmith.

Every single piece is made, by hand, by me in my small studio in Bend, Oregon.

Growing up, at each special occasion like a birthday, my grandmother would add one pearl to the necklace she was building for me. It was so exciting and I absolutely loved it. Although, I think a love of pearls is a pre-requisite for being a Rhode Islander. But that is where my love of pearls was born.

About a decade ago, after having fallen in love with knitting, I was looking for a creative outlet for after the kids went to bed. Somehow, I came across colorful freshwater pearls that were much more budget friendly and the idea for Purlsmith was born.

I’ve expanded to including other gorgeous, colorful materials such as glass, gemstones and ceramics. You’ll never find plastic here and I do my absolute best to source my materials from small, American companies.

You can be sure that your purchases from Purlsmith are supporting the smallest of the small, women owned businesses.

Once the profits paid for dance lessons & 4h fees and now they help fund college tuitions.
